Halloween From Home- ‘90s Aerobic Cindy Crawford

As we creeped closer to October with no pandemic end in sight I realized any sort of social Halloween bash would not be happening. But Ghoulies Never Say Die. Fall is my favorite season and Halloween is the only holiday I like; I was notgoing to let a global pandemic stop me. Because I’m still not back to working any sort of substantial hours (if I work any hours at all), I didn’t want to spend money on costumes (though I had some really great ideas- I’ll save those for next year). The wheels started turning and I decided to take a page out of Tim Gunn’s book and “make it work”. That is how I came up with Halloween From Home. It’s a challenge we can all partake in, just use what you have at home and don’t spend any dollars. As someone who is usually working with a low, low budget (that’s SHOWBIZ BABY!) I think the less you have at your disposal the more creative you end up being, which more often than not, leads to amazing results.

I had originally decided on “‘90s workout gal” as a costume because I have been watching Beverly Hills 90210 and have had ‘90s on the mind, but when I stumbled upon an image of Cindy Crawford I remembered her amazing home workouts (I actually did them in my teens). Bless up for YouTube because I found the video and partook in a workout, which was just as satisfying as I remembered.

Thus, I decided to do my hot take on a look Cindy boasted in the video.
-White thong bodysuit
-White sneakers
-Opaque footless tights

The tights were trial and error. First I put on yoga leggings but they were too thick and the waistband looked weird under the bodysuit because of the seams. I found black tights but they were the control top kind so it looked like I had weird shorts on and that was not acceptable, even for Halloween From Home. Then I remembered I had opaque footless tights somewhere. I found them in one of my costume boxes, and hallelujah, they were perfect. I finished the look with a white sneaker and trekked to the park for a photo/video shoot.

Part of the reason I haven’t really addressed my blog before now is I hate having people see me taking the pictures and videos I need for content. It’s not that I care what people think it’s just so awkward when you know you’re being observed. Luckily, when I got to the park a gal was just leaving from a workout and by the time I set up she was gone. I did get a jolt of adrenaline as I noticed a group of teens turn the corner and consequently just stand there and look into the abyss for way longer than I anticipated. I stopped what I was doing and looked at my camera screen like I was doing something of substance when in reality I was stalling. HI HELLO I WANT TO BE A ROCKSTAR BUT PLZ DON’T LOOK AT ME, TYSM.

I am still in operation hair grow-out so I opted for a classic ‘90s hair staple- a scrunchie (a black silk one made by me! They’ll be available for purchase in the shop this weekend.). I think this is a really accessible idea so if you go down this road be sure to tag #NoeHalloweenFromHome so I can see your lewks! What do you think of my nod to ‘90s Cindy?
